What's in the box
- Lyvra Smart Meter Dongle (v1 or v2)
- RJ12 cable (for P1 port connection)
- Quick start card
Prerequisites
- A DSMR-compatible smart meter with a P1 port (standard in the Netherlands and Belgium)
- Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz) within range of your smart meter
- The Lyvra app installed on your phone with Bluetooth enabled
Step 1: Connect the dongle
- Plug the RJ12 cable into the P1 port on your smart meter
- Connect the other end to the Lyvra Smart Meter Dongle
- The dongle powers itself from the P1 port — no separate power supply needed
- The LED should start blinking, indicating it's ready to pair
Step 2: Pair via Bluetooth
- Open the Lyvra app and go to your location
- Tap Add Asset → Smart Meter → Lyvra Dongle
- The app will scan for nearby dongles via Bluetooth
- Select your dongle from the list
- Enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password
- The dongle will connect to Wi-Fi and start sending data
Step 3: Verify data
- After pairing, go to your Lyvra dashboard
- You should see real-time energy data within a few seconds
- The dongle sends meter readings every few seconds via MQTT
LED status indicators
- Blinking blue — Ready to pair (Bluetooth advertising)
- Solid green — Connected and sending data
- Blinking yellow — Connecting to Wi-Fi
- Red — Error (check P1 connection and Wi-Fi)
Troubleshooting
- Dongle not found via Bluetooth: Make sure Bluetooth and location are enabled on your phone. Try moving closer to the dongle
- Wi-Fi connection fails: The dongle only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. Check your password
- No data after pairing: Verify the RJ12 cable is firmly connected to the P1 port. Some meters need the P1 port to be activated by your energy provider
- Intermittent data: Check Wi-Fi signal strength at the meter location. Consider a Wi-Fi extender if the signal is weak
